This is the bedroom where Jerry Lee Lewis grew up in Ferriday, Louisiana. Now a museum run by his sister Frankie Jean, this place has a personal and intimate feel not found in most famous people’s homes. Frankie Jean was a wonderful host and provided a fascinating incite into his life and times.
While this sharecropper’s cabin is only a representation of the one that McKinley Morganfield, whom we know as Muddy Waters, was born in, it does pay tribute to this great blues musician in his hometown of Rolling Forks, Mississippi.
This is Willie “Po’ Monkey” Seaberry. He is the owner of the infamous Po’ Monkey’s Lounge in Merigold, Mississippi. Po’ Monkey’s is one of the last rural juke joints in the country and has been standing since 1963. Willie is a kind and gracious host who runs a tight ship at his Thursday night parties.
